Hachey leaves CFIB post for Efficiency N.S.1/11/2013
Independent business advocate Leanne Hachey is moving to a new post.
After a decade with the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, Hachey will take on the role of communications director at Efficiency Nova Scotia, starting Jan. 21.
“It’s been an awesome 10 years, and I still love what I do, but I have this feeling inside me that it’s time to do something different,” she said Thursday.
Efficiency Nova Scotia is a non-profit body funded through a surcharge on power bills that Nova Scotia Power collects.
The provincial regulator has approved its plans to spend $46 million this year.
Hachey said she sees moving to the organization that aims to help Nova Scotians reduce energy consumption as a natural extension of her work at the federation, which she leaves Friday as vice-president for the Atlantic region.
“If we can find ways to be using our resources more efficiently, that doesn’t just help people’s pocketbooks, but it definitely helps the economy.”
