Survival Systems Training Ltd Acquires 'First in Industry' Training Equipment

2/4/2013

Survival Systems Training Limited (SSTL) is announcing its acquisition of the SEFtec/SCX HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training) Hoist, the world’s premier HUET hoist system. This hoist was created for HUET operations, specifically the safe raising and lowering of underwater escape trainers and personnel. The HUET hoist design was governed by input and appraisal from Lloyd’s Register, who certifies the hoist as being safe and suitable for HUET operations.

This SEFtec/SCX HUET Hoist concept was created by SEFtec (Cork, Ireland), a world-leading manufacturer of robust, reliable and cost-effective safety training simulators for the world's leading training centres. The SEFtec/SCX HUET Hoist was designed, built and installed by Street Cranes Xpress (SCX) Special Projects (Sheffield, England) who have extensive experience in explosive/weapon handling systems. The concept of the SEFtec/SCX HUET Hoist merges the industry’s best practices in personnel hoisting with an inherent fail safe approach.

The new hoist offers the following key features and benefits to SSTL training programs for the offshore and aviation sectors:

• Approval and certification from Lloyd’s Register
• True Vertical Lift
• True ‘man riding’ capacity
• Variable speed hoist/descent settings
• Truly redundant safety systems, with no single point of failure
• Emergency retract capability, even with total power failure
• 5000 kg load capacity, to include equipment and personnel

John Swain, owner of SSTL, says, “Our partnership with SEFtec, supported by the demonstrated abilities and professionalism of SCX and Lloyd’s Register, have allowed SSTL to maintain a leading position in the safety and training industries.”
